Pearlware saucer printed underglaze in blue. Design based on print entitled “Nuneham Courtenay, Bridge and Cottage” by S. Owen and published in 1811. Continuous repeating floral border of wild roses. This pattern was used by most major and many minor potteries in the second quarter of the nineteenth century (Coysh and Henrywood 1982, 1989). This design, although based on a print of an actual location, is a better fit in the Pastoral category, for its rural location and fishing theme.
